If you are looking for a quick weekend getaway, look no further than here!
In the midst of January, there aren’t many options that will have guaranteed 80 degree weather and are only a short flight away from Atlanta, not to mention you don’t have to worry about long custom lines since it is U.S. territory!
From the amazing food to wandering through the colorful streets, there is an endless amount of things to see in this beautiful city. We spent a lot of time in Old San Juan this trip and practically ate at every authentic restaurant that we came across. It was my third or fourth time back to San Juan, but this time I got to enjoy it at a slower pace and soak in the culture.
Our favorite streets to visit:
Calle Fortaleza
Calle San Francisco
Calle San Sebastian
One of the best parts about visiting Old Town San Juan is that happy hour happens all day! No more waiting for 5 o’clock somewhere!
If you like empanadas or want to try the best in town, you must visit Birra and Empanadas! It’s the cutest hole in the wall bar that you can walk up to from the street and sit and people watch. The vibe and atmosphere in there literally makes you so relaxed, wanting to stay there for the rest of the day!
If you are looking for a rooftop bar or patio, look no further than Rooftop Al Fresco or Punta de Vista on top of Hotel Milano! The churrasco steak is always my recommendation!
For breakfast or if you are craving a sweet treat, get some mallorcas from La Bombonera! This cafe has been around since 1902! It was closed for renovations for a bit after the hurricane, but it’s back open and kept it’s original charm.
If you want to venture out of Old Town, another very authentic Puerto Rican restaurant for breakfast is Kasalta!
Lastly, grab yourself a gourmet popsicle at Señor Paleta to cool off after a day of wandering! Or if you are more a chocolate lover, pop into Casa Cortes, a chocolate bar for one of their famous chocolate martinis!
A few places we didn’t get to visit, but they were on our list —
El Convento Hotel – courtyard patio brunch called Patio Del Nispero
Jose Enrique- filet mignon empanadas
What a beautiful place! I can’t wait to visit one day. I’m sure I’ll be eating all the pastries.
Thanks, it’s very informative
